Where is Heart and Soul pet food made?
Our products are made in country NSW in a modern HACCP approved facility. Our manufacturing standards meet and exceed the Australian Standards for the Manufacturing and Marketing of Pet Food (AS5812-2023).
Where are your ingredients sourced?
We source over 98.5% of our ingredients from within Australia. The remaining 1.5% are micro ingredients, such as vitamins and minerals, that are sourced from human grade suppliers overseas. For all our ingredients we source high quality and reputable suppliers.
To transition or to not transition?
Many pet food brands advise pet parents to transition their pets when introducing a new food. Customers have long been advised when switching their pets diet that a slow transition period is best. The reason a transition method is often suggested is based on the assumption this method would help reduce short term digestive issues. Each brand and each formula is created with a specific nutrient profile, including different levels for protein, fat, fibre, vitamins, minerals. However, many brands do not give all nutrient levels, such as carbohydrates, so it can be difficult to ensure your pets diet is still balanced when combining two recipes.
While a majority of pets have no issues using a slow transition period, some pets do have issues. For these pets, transitioning from any brand or changing recipes can result in a myriard of short term adjustment problems, such as increased thirst, larger stools, diarrhoea or loose stools, to name a few. Through our research and experience, we have found a high majority of pets are actually better suited with no transtion period, resulting in an easier switch and, in many cases, helping correct pre-existing digestive issues such and loose stools.
Could your pet be one who does not adapt well to a transition period? They may be better suited to a straight switch.
How do I transition my pet onto Heart and Soul?
All dogs are different and most dogs will not require a transition period. However, if your dog does need a transtion period, you should transition your pet across to Heart and Soul over a period of 7, 14 or 21 days, depending on your pets individual needs. Some pets are lucky and don’t need to transition, where others need a slow transition period. We recommend adding 1/4 Heart and Soul to 3/4 old food for the first few days. Then 1/2 Heart and Soul to 1/2 old food for the next few days. Providing your pet is not showing any adverse signs to the change, then move to the next stage of 3/4 Heart and Soul to 1/4 old food for another few days. After that your pet has been successfully transitioned.
What is the best way to store Heart and Soul dry food?
Store all dry food in a cool, dry location and away from direct sunlight. Both air and moisture can reduce the shelf life of any dry food. To avoid this, squeeze out any excess air as you seal the top of the bag. If you use your own resealable container, always leave the food in its original bag inside that container or save the bag and store elsewhere. If you do throw the bag away, try to keep a note of the best before date for your own benefit.
